About Us
Accredited Practising Dietitian/Nutritionist
Amanda is a qualified Dietitian with a Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. Having completed a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies, she has also had ten years experience as a Health and PE teacher in Australia and abroad. Through these experiences, Amanda has developed a strong awareness and deep knowledge of healthy lifestyles and nutrition for the general population and especially children. She believes in helping people understand the importance of establishing lifelong healthy attitudes towards food and physical activity.
Amanda began to appreciate the role that nutrition plays in a healthy lifestyle as an elite junior athlete. Recognising the link between nutritious food and her physical performance, she started to experiment in the kitchen with a variety of foods when she was a teenager. Cooking and preparing food for others and sharing her knowledge on the importance of food for junior athletes has remained one of Amanda’s greatest joys.
Her professional interest in clinical dietetics means that Amanda is constantly updating her knowledge in chronic diseases such as childhood and adult obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Amanda helps clients to understand their nutritional needs and strives to improve their nutritional knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior with clear, practical and realistic advice to suit each individual’s lifestyle.
Atop of Amanda’s many interests in the dietetics field, is her passion to prevent and treat childhood obesity. Her years of teaching experience, knowledge of food and natural ability to work with children make Amanda the perfect person to discuss any concerns you may have about your child’s weight. She also delivers nutrition talks and cooking classes for young athletes and children to develop their knowledge in the importance of nutrition for healthy eating.
